PHOENIX RUN RIOT!

Damp morning today, but the rain held off leaving Phoenix to produce their own rays of sunshine.
Today saw us at home to Greentowers Hinckley Colts and once again the boys did not disappoint, we played some lovely football with lots of one two passes flying around. The midfield controlled the pace of the game and closed down fast not allowing Greentowers to gain any control of play. Runs were made down the flanks allowing more space in the middle, resulting in a plethora of goals.
In the first half Phoenix put seven past the overworked goalkeeper. Greentowers managed one back.
Scorers today were Ollie 4 goals, Dan 2, Tom 2, Evan 1, Finn 1.
Second half saw a losing Greentowers come out and play with more vigour, but unfortunately it was not meant to be for them as Phoenix scored a further four goals and pne own goal gifted to us.
So many goals to choose from for being nicely taken/scored, but Toms 30 yard belter was probably my favourite goal scored today.
It must be said although we outplayed the opposition they were very dignified in their defeat and not once did their chins drop, they remained upbeat and carried on fighting till the final whistle.
With that said I would also like to pay tribute to our boys they celebrated the first three goals and then were very controlled in the further celebrations of goals scored, they didn't gloat or try and demoralise the opposition, they carried on playing nice simple football.
Great performances all around today. In goal Rocco had very little to do today and spent most of it watching as we did. Haha.
Good calm and solid defending with excellent clearances and fast plays forward by Aj, Cameron, Luke and Jack.
A good controlled midfield with some great crosses in and lovely tiki-taka football from Finn, Evan, Mass and Tom.
A busy Frontline of Dan and Ollie ran ragged attacking and applying pressure from the front.
Todays Man of the Match goes to Jack, defensively solid and he showed a good awareness of the game, but his link up play with Mass and constant forward play was excellent.
Overall a great win for us and it was fun to watch the game, but it was equally nice to see nobody gloating on the victory.
Well done boys keep on fighting.
