Its been a difficult week or so for the club after a break-in at Towles Field we lost over £500 worth of New Footballs, leaving over 50 children in quite a predicament to train and play. Thankfully a local businessman Martin Betts came to the rescue and kindly ordered new footballs for us to use and get back to normal. The children and coaches are truly grateful for such a kind generous gesture.
I would like to thank the local community for their responses and kind their kind offers.
Safe to say these balls will be coming home each week leaving very little, to no equipment to be left at the facility.
Now onto the good news. After a long wait and fundraising, Loughborough Phoenix FC receives a new life-saving defibrillator at home ground of Towles Field.
The Premier League’s Defibrillator Fund has enabled Loughborough Phoenix FC to install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at TOWLES FIELD, aimed at helping save the life of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.
The Fund, set up by the Premier League will enable more than 2,000 sites across the country to install an AED and is supported by The FA and Sport England and delivered by the Football Foundation. The defibrillator at TOWLES FIELD will be ready for use by the 14th April 2022.
While defibrillators are designed to be easy to use, club officials will also receive training through The FA Education’s free online Sudden Cardiac Arrest course and guidance on how to update their emergency action plans.
The new defibrillators will be registered with emergency services so any member of the public can use them to help someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Tony Sparano the Chairman at Loughborough Phoenix FC said: "Having this AED available is a great step forward in having this provision to use at training and match days, should the need arise. It is also a great provision to have this available for the local community to benefit from in such an accessible location. The FA have free website training in the Use of the Defibrillator, which will benefit Coaches, Players and the Public in the use of the AED Machine".
