Christening our new Home Ground with a fine victory.

On this beautiful autumn morning Loughborough Phoenix FC U12's were at home at Towles Field against North Kilworth Jnrs.

New goals and nets were ready to be used and they really were! It was a goal extravaganza with a good secure victory of 7-2.

First up was Dan with a lovely tap in from a lovely cross to the back post from the right side with an assist from Evan.

Within minutes Kilworth had rearranged their back line to compensate for the high pressing tactics of Phoenix only to give away a penalty. Dan strolled up to the spot and placed the ball confidently, a powerhouse of a penalty kick to the top left corner.

17 minutes into the first half a lovely through ball from Matty to Charlie just on the halfway line put Charlie on a forceful 30 yard run along the right wing beating three players to cut across the goal to place a beautiful shot beyond the keeper's reach to the top left corner.

Kilworth still not defeated came back with a goal on the counter attack. Half time came and my usual pep talk with a few little tips, had the boys raring to go. Within two minutes of the second half Finn had made a run through the middle battling to shoot but the ball was parried out leaving our resident striker Dan to tap the ball home for his hattrick. Kilworth fought hard to regain some control but unfortunately we had prepared for a change of tactics and moved to a 1, 3, 4, 1 formation. This led by some great attempts on goal. Evan battled through to take several shots only to find that one led to a deflection to the left side of the penalty area where Osayd was ready and with a swift shimmy to the left then dragged the ball back on to his favoured right foot and drove a well placed shot into the right corner of the goal.

Kilworth once again from a counter attack caught us out, with our goalkeeper Rocco coming out to meet the striker, but was just beaten.

Close to 50 minutes in and we had a good hold on the game. Cameron shot from the halfway line only to find the goalkeeper had spotted the shot and made his way to the touch line to save it and in an attempt to play out fast his kick was short and met by Tom who buried home a lovely shot, making it six for us.

In the Dying minutes of the game AJ placed a ball through just to the outside of the rear post, which Dan was there again to finish off bagging his fourth goal of the game. Now defensively we played very well with some excellent and outstanding challenges from Matty, Tom, Cameron and Massimo with some lovely fast play forward.

Our Goalkeeper Rocco Made some excellent saves and some fine drop kicks to help challenge high up field, he even cheekily went up for a couple of corners. The midfield consisted of Osayd, Evan, AJ, Charlie and Finn who played very well keeping touches to a minimum and playing forward with some lovely one two's and hard closing down. Dan our lone striker showed he had grit to challenge but also stuck to his position solidly allowing him to bag the goals he deserved.

All in all a great performance and we showed good compassion in victory and a pride to finally play our first Home game at Towles Field.
