Awards and Fun Day Celebrations.

Tony Sparano

Wow! what an absolutely amazing day we had today, bright sunshine with a lovely warmth from the Sun to boot.

The celebrations started with Mrs Sprinkle's Ice Cream followed by some socialising and drinks.

The Junior 8's kicked off with the first of our fun match sessions and securing a 2-1 victory, they showed some natural flare, good tackling and fast passing, I was so impressed with how much they have come on in such a short space of time, full credit to Matt Trickett for taking the boys on in coaching and managing this team. I cant wait to see how they perform this season I can see huge potential from these young boys going forward.

The Under 12's helped play against these younger boys and were very good as well, they were tasked to play two touch football which they completed brilliantly and helped make the game fun for the junior team

This match was soon followed by the Lads and Dads match which certainly was entertaining, the Phoenix boys were well out numbered playing against a team of 15 players. ( the dads had enlisted help from a few of the U12's to boost some of the flagging pace). but the dads were leading by one goal going into half time.

The second half saw the dads quickly score a second goal, but in true fashion our boys fight to the end scoring two goals to draw the game. The dads not wanting to play extra time and out of breath requested a penalty shoot out. which went on and on and on. to be honest I don't know the final score as we lost count, but safe to say the boys really enjoyed themselves.

Drinks and BBQ were to be had and bouncy castle time too. A Raffle Table and Name the Bear Game, which was won by Laura Curtis who named the Bear "Midnight".

This was all Followed by general chit chat, socialising by all and finally by the presentation awards

Now for the thankyou's

A whopping £400 was collected today from all the proceeds of todays events, which will go towards the new goals and Ball Stop Nets.

The BBQ was cooked by our star chef Johnny Crampton who got it all underway only to miss out on the dads v lads football match, but I promise he wont miss out next time.

Our resident DJ and Commentator Jamie Nadin played some tunes and a little commentary to boot.

Raffle table, Name the Bear, Tea's, Coffee and Food was all manned by Carmela, Emma, Kully, Chrissie and Donna

and I must say these ladies, oops and Gents were troopers and without their help it would not have been possible to put on this day.

Presentations were awarded by Gareth Jones from Global Go! who is our main sponsor for the teams kits.

Myself and Ikki would truly from the bottom of our hearts like to thank all the helpers for all the effort and hard work these wonderful people put in today.

last but not least you the parents for attending and giving your time and money today to help the Club and children celebrate in this Awards Day and in this club.

Oh, oh and last but not least the children, I know they have been through so much, as It has been a difficult year, yet they have always smiled throughout attending the training and matches. I thank each and every one of them and truly hope we have a great season ahead this year. #phoenixarmyrising
