A Cold lesson

Tony Sparano

Yesterday Phoenix Galacticos u11's took on Heather Junior Lions on one of the wettest and coldest days we have had this year.

Although not the result we were looking for it was a result in team spirit.

Ikki has done well to keep the boys with a strong fighting attitude.

Now we must remember Covid has not been a friend to this team of ours, resulting in not being able to train together for quite a while, but for the first time together without training together the fighting spirit is still there and it showed.

In goal was Kaamil who made some fabulous and courageous saves.

In defence was Elijah who showed some good skils in reading the game with some fine clearances, Mohamed showed the character and ability to command the defence whilst making some fine clearances and through balls.

Mikaeel playing a CDM role has shown a growth in game play and ability to bolster the midfield, some important tackles made and balls forward. Robert playing at left back is starting to understand the role and is adapting to the game play well, again some fine clearances.

In midfield Rowan played a deeper role but again his understanding is starting to come, some good clearances and passes forward.

Archie made some lovely runs forward with a couple of great attempts on goal, in time his strength will improve.

Rhys great play on the right mid wing. Some nifty footwork and great balls in.

Martino playing a holding role in midfield developing really well some great balls forward and good strong challenges.

Abbas commands the midfield and is a forceful player and equally has attacking prowess.

Upfront Isaiah scored a beautiful curling free kick just outside the box to give us our only goal, some fine runs on goal, his strength will develop in time making him a force to reckon with.

I enjoyed watching the game, I may add it was wet and extremely toe numbingly cold, but considering the boys have not been together for a while they carried the fight to the end and did not let it defeat them Hopefully we will be back to some sort of normality soon and the boys will be back up to their normal winning ways.

P.S. Thanks to Hussain for his linesman role this week.
